The point of Free Trade is not to charge a "tariff" (a tax on imported goods from another country). For example NAFTA (North American Free Trade Agreement) The United States, Canada, and Mexico all agreed not to tax goods that are imported and exported into eachother's country's. The company and manufacturers can then sell the product at a decent price and receive a nice profit. PROBLEM! People are greedy!!! American companies (typically) will run factories with underpaid workers, to increase their profits. Ignoring the ethical reason why this law was passed, but how often does that happen??? The workers are suppose to take home a substantial check being able to thrive off of. The companies instead increase the space between rich and poor, never giving them a chance at a middle class life. Of course this becomes a trend and all the big corporations want in. Companies send jobs to third-world countries to give workers there lower wages, avoid environment regulations, and avoid other labor laws. This then kills our economy because the jobs are leaving us! So a few guys get rich, third world countries have starvinng economies and dies forest, and we get a product we cant buy without a job!!!
Simple rproblem solve... i think not.

It's sad that American Companies have to take desperate measures to keep businesses running but the economy wouldn't had been so bent out of shape if people hadn't been spending more than saving.people use credit cards, taking out many loans and have no savings. when something happens like a loss of a job, decrease in their business or whatever..they have no money in reserve becuase they were living paycheck to paycheck anyway when they had money coming in

It's nice to see something other than a goal everyone wants and a real issue that everyone over looks out of selfishness. Why haven't more people commented on this? Very professional look and I actually watched one of the YouTube videos and was kind of interested in it, which is strange. Question though, how do you think we could possibly solve this problem? Believe me, the middle class is something I think people struggle to achieve, mainly- it's all people in working class barely making it.

I have to agree with mickey on this Josh im impressed. Your really use great professional terms and really show your point of view pasionately. I like your blog because i feel like im in a debate! Your such a crazy fun bubbly person and reading this just shed a serious light on you and i like it! The topic is one of those "oooh yea he's RIGHT!" topics that make people think. almost like a slap in the face with reality but not so harsh. ReplyDeleteI've been soo contemplative the last few days, and I'm not sure if by reading this it made me feel better or worse! Either way, it's good to finally know that somebody else out there knows a little bit about ethical reasoning. I'm pretty curious as to how you would go about solving this problem if you could. It's great that more people are becoming aware of what's happening to the world, but a problem can only be addressed and reread so many times.
I love how the American companies are so smart. Who else would even think to send jobs that their own country needs to a foreign country were they can avoid all these useless laws and higher wages. I guess as long as the products are produced and the company makes a profit everyone's happy right? or at least the the CEOs and the the rest of the higher level workers are happy with fat wallets and big houses and nice cars.
ReplyDeleteThere's an old saying that goes something like "you can't help others unless you help yourself first", but i guess they didn't get the memo...or they misread it. I thik what alot of them forget is that by helping your country grow stronger, you're helping yourself as well. Maybe they'll understand one day...maybe when they're older.
When it comes to a business its always about cutting down Costs and increasing profit : ) sad for some and good for others. : ( but yeah Free trade does fuck a country big time, But its also the countries fault, By allowing Unions to work. It makes everything so damn expensive even man labor in general. A plumber charges 200 an hour plus service just because he has a damn certificate from a school for plumbers. When in other countries a plumber is just another person trying to earn their living...... in a way you should not blame Big Corps for cutting costs down... the only thing that helps this country stay steady is the GDP gross domestic product... which comes from small businesses..
